Lodge History:

The Lodge of Reunion and Fellowship (LORF) No. 5625 was formally a member of the Sussex Group of Lodges and Chapters and meets in London at Freemasons Hall four times a year and is now a member of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London.

This Lodge was formed to provide a Masonic home in England for brethren of Grande Lodge Nationale Francaise, so that they may continue their Masonic activities together under the obedience of the United Grand lodge of England, instead of being scattered amongst various Lodges or remaining unattached. The Lodge is also one which any brother of the Grande Lodge Nationale may visit uninvited when in London.

On 7th November 1936 the Consecrating meeting, in Freemasons’ Hall, was attended by a large contingent of Grand Officers and Brethren of the Grand Lodge of France together with an assembly of some of the highest ranking officers in our own Grand Lodge.

In October 2016 the Lodge embarked on a “Lodge Twinning” initiative with the Hiram Lodge, Vienna, under the Grand Lodge of Austria and has begun a series of exchange visits to promote Freemasonry in general and provide an opportunity for the members and wives / partners of each Lodge to socialise.

Today each meeting of the Lodge takes place at Freemasons; Hall on a Saturday in October (Installation), December, March and April commencing at 3.00 pm.

The Lodge believes that meeting on a Saturday has the advantage of avoiding the pressure that is put upon those freemasons who have meetings during the week and struggle to attend or attend on time because of pressing business arrangements.

Additionally for those driving to meetings there is ample car parking in the area after 1.30pm on Saturdays and of course the congestion charge does not apply thus mitigating the expensive cost of public transport.

The membership background is varied, comprising multiple European nationalities and there is a theme associated with the construction and building services industry.

The Lodge is under the auspices of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge, consecrated in 2003 and uses the Emulation Ritual for its working. The standard of ritual work is very good without being daunting for those Brethren who are not natural ritualists.

The Lodge has 27 members and an average attendance of 18 plus regular visitors and enjoys a friendly atmosphere both in Lodge and at the festive board.

The Lodge of Reunion and Fellowship comprises a number of Brethren who have received London and Provincial Honours and a Former Metropolitan Grand Inspector.

The Lodge recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary and was presented with a letter of congratulations by the Metropolitan Grand Inspector responsible for overseeing our Lodge on behalf of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge of London.

The Festive Board is held in a private dining room at the Trattoria Verdi restaurant, Southampton Row, London, a short walk from Freemasons’ Hall and boasts excellent traditional English and Italian Fare at competitive London prices.

Should you wish to consider becoming a member of the LORF please do not hesitate to contact me or our Secretary W. Bro. Tim Hawkins via contact button above.

The Lodge also feeds a Royal Arch Chapter, the Chapter of Reunion and Fellowship 5625 which also meets at Freemasons’ Hall on three Saturdays during the year.
